Wild! Not only this Wild West gouache sketch, but the wild story behind it! The original artwork started surfacing on the collector’s market after it was discoverd just over 10 years ago. Until then, it was locked in the safe of Art Director Charles Steinbacher who was responsible for the artwork at Bowman and later, Gum, Inc. First drawn in pencil (you can see some of the pencil markings on this piece), the coloring was then added. Just look at the realism and the strength of how the color so dramatically shows the man on his horse...and the delicate nature of the herd of sheep and the sheep dog in the background. Measuring 6 1/2 x 7 1/2”, the sketch is adhered to the board and is presented ready for framing...and displaying.
