Measuring 2 1/2” x 3”, this original art was created as part of the Horrors of War trading card series that was published by Philadelphia-based Gum, Inc in 1938. This is card #273 and is titled Nanking Under Japanese Rule. According to the “behind the story information” that is actually printed on the formal printed card that was sold, the people in Nanking had their water turned off every evening. This hand-painted artwork was actually the piece of art used in the final printing process. Although there is adhesive on the back as part of the production process, the front is in a clean, NRMT condition. There are no creases or any defacings.
