A unique collection of World War II postcards, letters, photographs and ephemera, chronicling a young man’s military service from training camp to overseas. Approximately 100 items are organized in a 3-ring binder, and together capture the sights and events that an average sailor experienced. Of special interest are a certification card signed by a Vice Admiral, attesting that Lafayette McIntosh, of the U.S.S. Severn, had participated in Operation Crossroads, testing the effects of atomic blasts on men & ships at Bikini Atoll. Many vintage postcards and photos from both Atlantic and Pacific Theatres, including everything from French chateaux to hula girls. An expansive view of one man’s odyssey through the Second World War. <<>>
