A unique collection of World War II postcards, letters, photographs and ephemera, chronicling a young man’s military service from training camp to overseas. Approximately 100 items are organized in a 3-ring binder, and together capture the sights and events that an average sailor experienced. Of special interest are a certification card signed by a Vice Admiral, attesting that Lafayette McIntosh, of the U.S.S. Severn, had participated in Operation Crossroads, testing the effects of atomic blasts on men & ships at Bikini Atoll. Many vintage postcards and photos from both Atlantic and Pacific Theatres, including everything from French chateaux to hula girls.
