This series of cards depicts Uncle Sam’s soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen and civilians in training for National Defense. One of the cards--this one-- is titled “Blinker Signals.” It shows how Naval recruits learn their dots and dashes --how to send morse code messages. We learn that signals are visible for 20 miles. This piece of original art, along with the NRMT card, shows the class onboard a ship. The original artboard measures approx. 8 x 9 1/2” . It consists of the original black & white illustration and the color overlay on tracing paper. There are some adhesive and other art smudge marks on the front and back along with a pencil written caption on the lower front. This is a dramatic look at World War II rarely seen.
