It looks like comic art but it’s anything but. The realities of war were captured picture by picture and card after card in the Horrors of War series. In a scene that shows multi-bombings, multi-ships sinking along with one destructive incident after another, this black and white piece of artwork shows another aspect of the horror of war. In this black & white piece of artwork (note: there is no color overlay on this piece), you see what is perhaps the most famous and popular non-sport trading card set of all time. This piece of artwork was used to print the card number 92. The series was produced by the Gum, Inc. Company of Philadelphia. The series brought one horror story after another about the events that were around in the period leading up to World War II. This piece measures 7 1/2 x 9 1/2” (approx.) and consists of the heavy black ink piece of artboard. Minor glue damage is on the back. The pencil number 92 is written on the front.
