This Harry Wickey statue of a young Joe DiMaggio from early in his career is the only one known to exist. Stunning piece stands nearly 20” tall and is in excellent condition. Formerly from the famed Halper collection, “Wickey” is incised in the base. This is the work of Harry Herman Wickey (1892-1968). Wickey achieved national recognition as an etcher before turning to sculpture in 1938 after his eyesight had become impaired from the acids used in etching. This piece dates circa 1941.
