Harken back to the era of early post-WWII baseball with this nostalgic piece of memorabilia. This over 16” tall baseball player, in a “Casey At the Plate” type pose, is a plaster piece which was used as a store display in the 1940s. The detail on this piece is just tremendous, with highly artistic touches such as different colors in the uniform, belt buckle and belt through loops, differentiation between flesh tone and lips, musculature of the neck, creases in the uniform and indentations in the uniform pants where the stirrups meet the socks, and an actual wooden “bat” that fits into a hollow in the upper hand of his grip. A copyright “c” along with the initials “FW” and “47” are carved in the back of the stand. The back of his right ear is slightly damaged and he’s a righty so you can pose him “staring down the pitcher” w/o noticing the minor flaw.
