The 1926 Army - Navy Game is well-remembered for at least two reasons. First, more than 100,000 fans witnessed a hard-fought classic, with Army holding the unbeaten Navy team to a 21-21 tie. Second, it was the first official event held at the brand-new Soldier Field in Chicago. This offering consists of a program and pennant from this historic football event. The 10 3/4” x 7 3/4”, 144 page program features a great multi-color cover graphic, depicting wonderful closeup game action, bracketed by cadets and by busts of President Coolidge and Vice-President Dawes. Inside, there are player and team photos, extensive bios and statistics, articles on West Point and Annapolis, a history of the Army-Navy Game, and superb period advertising, much with sports content. The pennant is a rare one for Army, with black felt stitched on brown felt, with an overall length of 28”. The pennant is embroidered “Soldier’s / Field / Chicago / Nov. 27 ‘26 / ARMY”. The pennant is in EX-MT condition, with three small tack holes. The program is VG+, only missing a bit of its binding edge.
