Here’s an incredible 8 x 10 B&W Negro League photo from Hall of Famer Bill Foster’s estate of one of the truly legendary independent teams of black baseball - Chicago’s American Giants. Pictured are players Bill Foster, Ted Trent, Sug Cornelius, Putt Powell and one other. The men all share similar expressions while clutching baseballs and gloves, standing a foot or so apart. There’s wear in the form of some creases and staining, but the photographic image is great and would display very well in a frame. Written in blue ink along the white border is “American Giants pitching staff about 1933 or ‘4”. The names of the players are also hand written on the border at the bottom below each gent, but none of the markings interfere with the unique image. A truly historical photo!
