Remarkable 1910 Detroit Tigers team photo with the players wearing their Sunday best (for church, not the ballpark) and tons of Brylcreem. Maybe that’s why so few of them seem happy, including the unmistakable mug of Ty Cobb at the far right of the second row. Cobb may also not have been pleased that his .383 average that year was only second-best in the AL, breaking his run of 3 straight batting titles (he’d win 8 of the next 9), or that the team’s failed to three-peat as AL pennant winners. Other notables include fellow HOFers Sam Crawford and manager Hughie Jennings, as well as George Moriarity, Oscar Stanage, George Mullin, Ed Summers, Sailor Stroud, Bill Donovan, Boss Schmidt, Hack Simmons, etc. Photo is 6 x 9” and VG-EX w/good sharp corners and a half-inch area of surface loss on Cobb’s left shoulder but NOT his face. Back of photo with players’ names handwritten in pen has adhesive residue and other markings.
