Another marvelous portrait of Minnesota’s legendary Heisman Trophy winning halfback Bruce “Boo” Smith, whose square-jawed, clean-cut, handsome features made him the beau ideal of scholastic athletes in the ‘30s and ‘40s, especially when he led the Golden Gophers to consecutive mythical national championship seasons in ’40 and ’41. The 7 x 9” shot, which is imprinted “Univ. of Minnesota, 1939” (his first varsity year) is neatly signed “Bruce Smith” in purple ink across the white of his uniform sweater under his granite chin. Signature grades 8/10. Photo is nicely preserved and EX+ w/no visible corner or border damage and one minute white speck along the upper left edge.
