A wide-ranging collection of memorabilia once belonging to 1941 Heisman Trophy winner Bruce Smith, recognized for his achievements as halfback with the University of Minnesota “Golden” Gophers. History records that his Heisman presentation was held on December 9, 1941, only two days after Pearl Harbor, and was interrupted by air raid sirens after an American squadron was mistaken for German bombers.
