Practice does not make perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect. Lombardi uttered those words and we have here written documentation that shows he practiced what he preached. These 5 playbooks are a preview into his future greatness at Green Bay. They are from his time spent as the NY Giant’s offensive coordinator. Lombardi made a very un-Lombardi type error around October 2, 1955. The Giants were in Chicago to play the Cardinals in the 2nd game of the NFL season and they stayed at the Hilton. Lombardi left all of his playbooks in the room when he checked out. These 5 books were discovered by housekeeping and given to the front office manager. He took possession and they have remained locked away in his family’s home ever since. A notarized letter from the family is included that details it all. This past June they were first made available and now you can see how Lombardi’s mind developed the best offensive football strategies. See the diagrams of plays and Lombardi’s handwritten notes throughout 4 of the books. One of the books is just diagrams of plays. They are in excellent condition.
