No, the motorbike was not named after this guy -- but how bizarrely perfect is it that the “Harley Davidson” whose image graces this scintillating 1910 T229 Kopec Cigarettes “Sports Champions” card actually was a champion motorcycle rider at the time! He was, most famously, a “champion roller skater of the world,” as it reads on the back of the card, and “as a fancy and trick skater he has no superior.” Rotoscope on front shows him with a menage of medals on the chest of his skin-tight skating outfit against a yellow sky and leafy trees in the distance. Card has been rated to a 1 by SGC only for the .5 x 1” patch of surface loss on the back across “Kopec Cigarettes” but o/w card is quite high-grade with perfect centering and just a hint of soiling and wear around the edges. A bargain-basement opportunity for a rare T229 that displays brilliantly. Card measures 1 7/16 x 2 7/16”. It should be noted, The T229 Kopec back is considered by many to be one of the most difficult to find on any sports or non sports card. If you are a back or type collector this piece is a must have.
