Best known for being one of Wayne Gretzky’s line mates with the Kings in the late ‘80s, Allison was drafted by the Rangers and got his start with them in 1980 -- with a bang, scoring in his 1st game with his 1st shot on goal -- and then 2 games later, notching his 1st (and only career) hat trick. In all, Mike put in 6 seasons in the Big Apple, and this highly desirable blue mesh jersey covered his broad back during his rookie year of ‘80-81. This is the kind of jersey that makes dedicated Rangers buffs and collectors sit up and beg, as it actually dates back at least a year further -- the “9” flag tag in the collar indicating that it was worn in 1979-80, when it would have been worn by another number “14”, Don Murdoch, before his off-ice travails closed in on him. Further, the motif of the jersey makes it vintage, being that the “New York” cascading diagonally down the front would be changed to “Rangers” on the away jerseys in ‘86-87. The nameplate sewn on the back reading “Allison” is clearly a replacement, but all else is original and eye-popping with its red, white and blue piping. Great game use, paint, blood, tape marks, inside pilling etc. “Gerry Cosby” tag is in back on collar with the size “52” label and “9” year tag and laundry instructions. Call it Blueshirt heaven.
