One of the most interesting photographs we have ever offered. This is from the family of legendary outlaw John Dillinger and hung in the home of Dillinger's aunt. Spectacular 16x10" vintage photo of Dillinger with his girlfriend Evelyn Frechette from his earliest days. Marvelous because it was a woman who betrayed him (the famed "Lady In Red") at the movie house ambush where he was gunned down by Melvin Purvis & the FBI. Though not the lady in red, this was his "moll," "Dillinger's favorite girl friend" according to the book Bloodletters and Badmen by Nash. They are posed in front of the family home. Image is in full color, as it has been hand-tinted, a common practice of the day. Slightly oval in shape it is in convex glass in attractive frame. The only photo of its type we know to exist and a very important piece. Great LOA.
