Reprising the theme of the 1930s Diamond Matchbook sports sets, the Universal Match Company issued this 1959 "Famous Redskins" series with vintage face shots of Redskin players past and present on the front cover and an ad for 1st Federal Savings Bank on the back cover, both against a light tan background. Though 'Skins fans likely knew them on sight, one had to look on the inside of the matchbook to find their names, which include Sammy Baugh, Eddie LeBaron, Al Demao, Wayne Millner, Joe Tereshinki, Wilbur Moore, Cliff Battles, Jim Schrader, Willie Wilkin, Dick Todd, etc. Matchbooks are 1 x 4.5" and VG, some better, with nice sharp corners and edges and the only flaw the vestiges of staples being removed on top and bottom where they were once mounted.
