From the outside, this happily preserved leather headgear looks pretty similar to those you've seen before, but flip it over and look inside. Early supension system created by four leather flaps connected by a tightened cord added that extra bit of protection. This system would be the standard for decades to come, well after leather was abandoned for plastic models. Former owner's name is written in blue ink on the suspension flaps.
