Unused printer's proof ducat from the Brown Bomber's June 13, 1951 fight against Lee Savold. At 37, Louis had unretired in order to regain the heavyweight crown, but while Savold was officially the champ, Joe's 6-round KO didn't get him the title; instead, Ezzard Charles was recognized. Joe got his shot 4 months later when Rocky Marciano was champ, getting KO'd in 8 and ending his career. Though the pink proof ticket says "Polo Grounds," the fight took place at Madison Square Garden, under the auspices of Garden boxing honcho Jim Norris, whose name is on the ticket. Upper reserved seat went for 5 bucks. Ticket EX-MT with some light tearing on upper left corner.
