This was the face of the American resolve and valor during WWII. It was how General Douglas MacArthur looked when he vowed "I Shall Return" to the Philippines and when he accepted Japan's surrender as Supreme Commander of Allied forces in the Pacific -- grim, determined, and demanding as he said on the deck of the Missouri, "unconditional surrender." The classic portrait of the "old soldier who just faded away" in full uniform and characteristic open collar, is signed and inscribed, "To Frank Kirkpatrick, with cordial regard, Douglas MacArthur" in black pen. Slightly faded signature earns a rank of 7/10. Photo is 8 x 10" making his expressions even more compelling, and is mounted on white backing fixed to cardboard. O/a 10 x 14" and VG.
