A lump in the throat and a sigh accompany viewing of this 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers team-signed baseball. The hide has browned with the ages -- but the memories glitter of the Bums finally ending the stranglehold of the Yankees by beating them in the World Series for Brooklyn's first and only championship. Each panel between the seams is a voyage into deep Nostalgia Land: Don Newcombe and Roy Campanella are on one side; Jackie Robinson and Don Hoak are on another. Gil Hodges, Sandy Koufax and World Series MVP Johnny Podres are placed together. Pee Wee Reese (clubhouse), Duke Snider (clubhouse) and Game 2 hero Sandy Amoros occupy yet another panel, with many others, such as: Alston, Kellert, Spooner, Koufax, Furillo and Gilliam sprinkled throughout. The autographs stand out wonderfully, just like the Boys of Summer who wrote them. The Official National League sphere (Warren Giles) shows a few minor nicks in the surface and rates EX, but aesthetically and historically, this is Brooklyn heaven.
