Epic piece of baseball history. Pittsburgh Pirates two-tone baseball cap was worn by Numero Uno in his ultimate baseball coming out party: The 1971 World Series. Knit cap in black and gold sports the classic Pittsburgh Pirates "P" in fully embroidered stark black. The band in white shows a World Series worth of use. Yes, the Series that he ran his way, threw his way, hit his way, and fielded his way into immortality. New Era tag is delightfully stitched in with the size 6 7/8 flag tag (yes his small size) next to it. Most importantly, the brim boasts a perfectly worn in "21" in vintage black marker. This came directly out of the Pittsburgh Pirates locker room during the 1971 World Series from a prominent collector we have known for many years. Included with this lot is his LOA and a rich photographic record of his visit to the World Series with images of him inside the Pirates locker room. This is an incredibly important piece. The 1971 World Series was the showcase where Roberto Clemente finally received the recognition he deserved from the national baseball audience just a year before his untimely death.
