Rare indeed is a ball signed by both of the teams who played in a World Series. Well, this glorious orb jointly inked by members of the 1949 Yankees and Dodgers goes even further in the rarity department into "one of a kind" territory, since it is also signed by Ty Cobb, not to mention Commissioner Happy Chandler on the sweet spot. Potpourri of 21 signatures on ONL (Frick) ball includes glittering HOFers like Joe DiMaggio, Casey Stengel, Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, Pee Wee Reese, Johnny Mize, Phil Rizzuto and Allie Reynolds, as well as faves like Gil Hodges, Charlie Keller, Joe Page, Johnny Lindell, Gene Hermanski, Luis Olmo, Jerry Coleman and Preacher Roe. Cobb, who may have been in attendance at the Series, put his valuable marker on the ball in the same thick black ink as the others, possibly in a post-game clubhouse. Chandler's rare signature reads "W.B. Chandler." Signatures are VG-EX, boldly leaping from the lightly tanned tone of the ball, which is EX.
