These dashing skates worn by the little fireplug winger during the 2001-2002 season with the Rangers not only recall Fleury's 3-year roller-coaster ride with the team (during which he led the NHL in points one year but battled drug problems off ice). They also carry a very poignant reminder of how the sports world honored the victims of 9/11, and especially in the city where the destruction of the Trade Towers incinerated 3,000 lives. Fleury indelibly paid tribute to the cops and firefighters who died in the tragedy by writing "NYPD" on the left skate and "FDNY" on the right one in black marker. Black and gray Easton skates with yellow laces are in EX condition with light damage on the exterior and soiling on the white interior cushioning. A special pair of skates, indeed.
