Neat collection of 11 vintage Derby programs from 1937 to 1946, a span that featured no less than 4 Triple Crown winners -- War Admiral ('37), Whirlaway ('41), Count Fleet ('43), Assault ('46). Other Derby winners included Lawrin, Shut Out, Johnstown and Pensive, with big-time jockeys like Eddie Arcaro and Johnny Longden regularly in the saddle. In a far cry from today's ad-bloated sports programs, the lean 4 x 10" booklets focused strictly on on the big race with essential info. There are doubles of the '43 and '46 programs, and the latter 2 and the '44 have added handwritten info in pencil. Also included are 2 rare Brown-Forman's Derby Dope Books (3 x 6") from '39 and '40, offering bettors more detailed and hard-core stuff about the ponies in the field, and 3 general admission ticket stubs from '39 (2) and '46. Programs are EX-NRMT with light brown toning of most (less on the '46's), Dope Books NRMT, tickets EX-NRMT.
