Great '54 Cubs team signed ball with rare rookie-year signature of Ernie Banks in addition to fellow HOFer Ralph Kiner, in his next-to-last season in the majors. Banks, signed from the Negro Leagues' Kansas City Monarchs the year before, hit .275 with 19 homers and 79 RBIs, a prelude to the 19-year career that yielded 512 dingers. ONL (Giles) ball has 31 signatures in all, including manager "Smilin' Stan" Hack, Hank Sauer, Gene Baker, Bob Talbot, Dee Fondy, Walker Cooper, Steve Bilko, Hal Jeffcoat, etc. Banks and Kiner typical of the overall 7-to-8 grade of the signatures in blue ink. ONL (Gilkes) ball is EX-MT, toned to a delightful light gold hue.
