Three incredible wire photos of "King" Carl Hubbell. 1) The big "get" is an 8 x 10 from his rookie season of 1928 when John McGraw acquired him from the Texas League after Ty Cobb refused to let him throw his audacious screwball for the Tigers and sent him down. Hubbell repaid McGraw with 12 brilliant years that included 3 pennants, and even as a youngster he has the sneer of winner (has a piece missing in top right corner). Remnant of original caption sheet on back. 2-3) The same swagger shows in the 2 other shots of him following through on a pitch, both from '33. One 5 x 7" the other 6 1/2 x 8 1/2" (with an attached caption) and both EX+ . Both of these have original wire service stampings.
