Stunning collection of 5 rare wire photos from the '20s and '30 placing the Landis in different situations but never varying his stony, unsmiling demeanor. Actually, baseball's first Czar nearly cracks a smile while throwing out the first pitch on opening day 1934 in Chicago. He is referred to in caption as a "Dictator." In others we see him throwing out another 1st ball, standing with NL prez John Heydler and a "Mr. H. Sextion", in a chest protector mock-umpiring a game, and signing a document while staring straight ahead with wild, glazed eyeballs. Two 8 x 10s, three 6 x 8s. Photos have some pinholes but o/w EX with the original wire service stampings on back.
