Not surprisingly, 2 of the top five winningest coaches in NBA history put in a lot of time in the dungeon-like environs from which this typically battle-scarred chunk of Boston Garden parquet was taken -- and another put in a lot of time on the floor itself as a player for the team that ruled it. The historic signatures of all 5 grace the hardwood, including that of the Lord of the Manor himself, Red Auerbach, who while he's slipped to #5 in career wins (938) still is the gold standard of coaching (and his .662 winning percentage the best of the 5), joined by Nos. 1-4: Lenny Wilkens (1,226 pre-'04-05), Pat Riley (1,110), ex-Celtic great Don Nelson (1.096) and Bill Fitch (944), who racked up a title and 3 straight 60-win seasons with the Celts in the '80s. The NRMT signatures are scrawled in blue marker across a 24 x 24" section of parquet partly painted red, yellow and green. The section is mounted by wood extensions onto a green marble-effect background to the left of a 10 x 11" plaque with the Celtic leprechan logo and reading "The Historic Boston Garden Parquet." Under this is 6 x 9" black and silver plaque identifying the coaching legends. Floor and plaques are beautifully displayed under glass in a 43 x 48" mahogany frame. Piece is NRMT with a few harmless spots and chips. With LOA from the Celtics.
