The memory of the Shoe is little big man high in the saddle, driving his charge to the finish line. This magnificently crafted super-imposed color print by artist Fred Stone presents a far more complete picture with separate visages of Willie fused into the overall image. In the forefront is a rendering of him in the saddle spurring on John Henry, while a large wraithlike image of his face under his jockey's helmet rises above the track in the background, seemingly overlooking all below him. The print has preserved beautifully under glass in a frame sized overall to 29 x 29". The stirring piece, which reads "The Old Warriors" at the bottom, rekindles the legend who has influenced all that have rode into the back stretch . Print is NRMT.
