A carte-de-visite composite of the infamous (Jesse) James-(John) Younger Gang, pictures six men, three of them dead. At the top are the corpses of Clel Miller, Charlie Pitts and Bill Chadwell and Cole Younger, Robert Younger and Cal Carter on the bottom. On September 7, 1876, the James-Younger gang attempted to rob the bank at Northfield, Minnesota, but was ambushed by waiting lawmen and armed townsfolk. When the gun dust settled, two of the six-man gang and two citizens lie dead. This last holdup attempt by the notorious gang that had terrorized the Old West for 10 years. Overall EX, this 2.5x3.5" CdV is a true rarity emanating from the archive of one of the top Historical Americana afficianados.
