In a year of firsts, The Tribe captured it's only World Series crown in 1948 behing the outstanding pitching of Bob Feller, Gene Bearden and Bob Lemon. Their strong pitching overcame an outstanding Red Sox offensive machine as they defeated the Boston Braves 4 games to 2. Satchel Paige became the first black pitcher in World Series History when he pitch for the Braves and the immortal phrase "Spahn and Sain and two days of rain" was coined by newspapers in reference to the Braves lack of pitching strength. The Indians made history before "The Series" by defeating the Boston Red Sox in a one game playoff after both clubs finished the regular season tied, an A.L. first. The ball contains twenty seven(27) blue ink signatures include Boudreau (sweet spot), Feller, Lemon, Bearden, Robinson, Gordon, Keltner, Tucker, Peck, Murray, Clark, and Hegan. Overall autographs grade as 7/10 while the ball itself owns a light even tone, all stampings have faded, EX.
