Long known as one of the great rarities of the '52 Topps set in high grade, this incredible card of slugger Eddie Mathews is one of the most important cards in the entire set! It combines the fact that it's the rookie card of a great power hitter and HOF member with the fact that it's the last card of a tough high number run that's chock full of amazing rarities and desireable cards. Mathews pounded out 512 long balls in a dramatic 17 season career and together with Henry Aaron hit more homers than Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig to cop the title of most homers as teammates. The card itself is really amazing - it has the smoothest, most lustrous surface that you'll ever see on a '52 Mathews, with perfect color and focus, clean white borders and four high end corners with bare whispers of wear. The centering, as is the case on nearly every Mathews in the hobby, isn't perfect but very acceptable at 35/65 L/R and 40/60 T/B. The reverse is perfectly printed and dead Mint, with all 4 corners sharp and square. In all, with as few of these cards that are available in the marketplace today and with the relatively low quality of many, even some that are graded PSA 8, this card will rise, as the cream of your collection's crop!
