Abraham Lincon served as President during one of the most desperate times in our Nation's history. Often viewed as courageous innovator, whose life ended as a martyr, it is no wonder that there is such a strong demand for Lincoln related memorabilia. Offered is a large Presidential document signed by Lincoln during the height of the Civil War. The piece measures approx. 13.5 x 17.5", and appoints Lovett H. Rousseau to the position of "Brigadier General of Volunteers". Dated March 11, 1862, the 16th President has penned his full name ("Abraham Lincoln") on the document in bold (8/10) black ink. The ornate relic is also signed by Secretary of War, E.M. Stanton, whose status would later lead to the impeachment of Andrew Johnson. The appointment is exceptionally clean, and remains in overall Near Mint condition, save for two small, unimportant tears along one of the fold lines. Handsomely matted and framed with an attractive image of Lincoln, and a metal name plate, to an overall size of 29.5 x 24.5".
