This stunning medal is pure South African gold and is engraved with the words "Marathon Race, 1909" around the outside of an engraving showing two runners in the center. The medal is ornately adorned with gold and features a ruby, diamond and a sapphire mounted to the top. The back of this 1 1/2" in diameter medal has the words "Woney, Appreston, !st, 18-3-09" elegantly engraved on it. Manufactured by J.Stern of Johannesburg and still in its original box. NRMT
