This early tabletop baseball game, patented in 1884, consists of 36 playing cards: nine "strikers," nine "plays," and 18 "perfecting plays." Through combinations of these cards, two individuals could play a game of baseball complete with grounders, foul outs, and muffed fly balls. Two types of sets exist, blue or maroon backed. We are offering the latter where the backs of the cards are maroon-colored and cards are gold-edged. This version is much tougher to find. A sturdy two-part slip-box (drawer-within-box) holds the deck of cards. Set is complete with 36 cards and a 16-page booklet of instructions. Set averages NRMT. Display box is NRMT. Rarely seen.
