The legend of Sandy Koufax has reached almost mythical proportions. To a generation that came of age in the '50s and '60s, Koufax was the beau ideal of a class sports act, a guy with a quick and easy smile, a fighter who endured great pain yet never complained, and a pitcher who could make a ball sizzle or dance. From 1961 to 1966, he led the NL in wins and shutouts 3 times, complete games twice, strikeouts four times, ERA a record straight seasons. He pitched a no-hitter each season from '62 to '65, the last a 1-0 perfect game. Although an arthritic pitching elbow cut short his magnificent career, the image of his long stride toward the plate, the red "32" stretching across his broad chest, remains the picture of excellence, domination, perfection. This wonderful serigraph by famed sports artist Leroy Neiman is a fitting tribute, expressing the man's stately yet human qualities, and signed by both pitcher and artist in strong pencil. The signatures rate a "9" out of a possible 10. Limited Edition serigraph is numbered 36/359. Approximately 34 1/2 x 42 1/2" and placed in an lavish frame (worth $700) with UV glass and acid free matting. Comes with COA.
