Out-of-this-world oil-on-board was published in the March 1964 issue of Sport magazine. This stunning work is by important illustrator Griffith Foxley who we believe presented this to Frankie Frisch himself. It was then hung in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY and went back to Frisch. The verso is inscribed in vintage marker, “Originally hung in the Baseball Hall of Fame at Cooperstown, New York for many years before being replaced with one of Frank’s later pictures…” This magnificent work is of the same quality as the Brown & Bigelow works which also hung in Cooperstown for many years. The dreamy detail is incredible as Frisch is displayed in his period St. Louis Cardinals uniform. In original frame which measures a stately 30x26”, the work itself is 20x25”. NRMT and comes with the original magazine it was published in. One of the finest baseball paintings of its type we have ever seen, bar none.
