Remarkable lot consisting of 1954 to 1958 surveillance typed and written notes of a detective in the South Philadelphia detective division, located at 24th and Wolf Streets. Includes police division photographs - a record of founding members of the Philadelphia Mafia including Angelo Bruno (known as “The Gentle Don”). Bruno was assassinated after he refused to allow mob distribution of hard drugs in Philly (one story line in The Godfather). The offered lot of never-before-seen material is housed in a plastic three-ring binder, consisting of approximately 100 pages of official police files with many surveillance notes of gang members. Also noted are various affiliations with various clubs in Philadelphia, the meeting place for the mobsters. Also includes over 40 official police photographs of arrested gang members, including Angelo Bruno. This collection was never intended to be seen or held by private hands and covers a tremendously important period in mob history, some of these guys were at the Appalachian Raid in 1957.
