Important find of 43 original vintage photos came from Hemingway’s best friend in Cuba (his stamp is on the verso of many). Mostly 8x10" and black & white, there are all sorts of amazing and rare images taken during his time living in Cuba. Includes: a few on the set of the film The Old Man & The Sea including one with Spencer Tracy (nice), being presented with several awards, his daughter’s wedding, at dinner in his horror, fabulous facial study, two of his hunting with a shotgun (he killed himself with one), special Bacardi fete for him, book presentation, in old Havana, ogling Gary Cooper’s wife while Coop looks on none too pleased, with Mrs. Simpson the Duchess of Windsor, signing autographs and many more. Some are wire photos, but all are a wonderful introspection into one of the greatest literary minds of the 20th century. A significant collection to say the least.
