October 18, 1940 scenes of Phil at his home getting the story of winning the 1940 Minor League Player of the Year Award for Kansas City (the Yankees top farm team). This group of eleven 4x5” negs showing Phil at home with his wife and family while listening to the story of his season being told over the radio. There are some great images such as Phil with baseball bat (3), with another trophy over his radio (pre-TV) and more. But best of all by far is a 5x7” negative of Phil being presented the award on the field as a member of the New York Yankees. It is a July 23, 1941 game at Cleveland with all his teammates there including Joe DiMaggio.
