First year Milwaukee Braves jersey from perhaps the greatest left-handed pitcher of all-time. Beautiful specimen in brilliant fresh condition with masterful tomahawk logo across the front with luscious felt numbers on both front and back. Luxurious Indian head patch on the sleeve, and Horace Partridge tagging in the tail as they were still using their old manufacturer after they had left Boston. “Spahn…53” tagging tells the tale of the 1953 season when he turned down a contract that would have paid him 10 cents a head based on home attendance. That decision proved costly in the move to Milwaukee where attendance would skyrocket. This is also the special #23 jersey he wore when he was going for his 23rd win. The jersey shows the change from #22 to #23 and it is a team change. The shirt is signed in mint blue sharpie with Warren’s best wishes. He has signed it on the verso as well just for good measure. 1953 was his best season ever as a pitcher. He never surpassed his 23-7 record and 2.10 ERA.
