Lou Gehrig-June 1920 Commerce High School, NY, NY (cover is detached, glue binding is dry and pages are loose, and one page is missing, but condition of cover and pages is excellent and book has no moisture damage, no cutouts and nothing marking or defacing any photos, in fact no markings at all!! This book is untouched in terms of binding repair, but could easily be repaired. It is EXTREMELY rare with only TWO copies known to have surfaced in the past 20 years). This is the "yearbook" for Lou Gehrig's Senior year. Instead of publishing a conventional yearbook, the final issue for the school's monthly magazine served as the yearbook. He actually continued to take a few courses from fall 1920 till January 1921 because he did not meet entry requirements for Columbia, and possibly graduation requirements at Commerce. He did not have a posed senior photo, which page is missing from this copy, however I have a copy WHICH HAS THE PAGE and can verify that Gehrig is not pictured on it, and to my knowledge never appeared in any other issue with a posed head photo. He is pictured with wonderful photo as member of the Soccer team on page 70 and also appears in his baseball uniform in a photo montage with an individual picture on page 12. He is mentioned repeatedly, as is their baseball team (while season was still active at the time this was published). Page 49 begins the detailed discussion of the baseball season and included in the section is the Commerce "lineup" showing him at 1st. Base and hitting 3rd. "Henry Gherig" is also listed as being in the printing club but cannot be discerned in the photo.
