Here’s a 5-cent wax pack that’s so elusive, Maury Wills couldn’t even catch it. And there he sits at the bottom of the pack. This 1963 Fleer baseball unopened pack was graded NM+ “7.5” by GAI. The extraordinary thing about it is that the cookie inside is still intact. The few of these extremely tough to find packs that have turned up, as to be expected, have had broken or crumbled cookies inside. This special pack is truly marvelous in that its cookie is preserved exactly as it was the day it was put on the shelf. And with the presence of the man who wore winged sandals, Maury Wills, who just created a new ML record by stealing 104 bases the year before; this is an undeniable diamond in the ruff.
