Shortly after the final out of the series Cubs hurler, Bill Foxen, sat down with pen in hand and created this one of a kind keepsake. Inscribed on a blue and red stitched, Spalding ONL ball is the following: “Presented to Chas L. Hansen by Foxen of the Chicago Cubs on Oct 23, 1910. On this day was played the last and final game of the World Series of 1910. The winners were the Philadelphia Athletics. The Results: Phil. Won-4 Lost-1 Chic Won-1 Lost-4. Covering the opposite panel is: “The Cubs were four times National League winners and two times Worlds Champions: 1906- Nat. Champs, 1907-Worlds Champs, 1908- “ ”, 1910- Nat. Champs.” Continuing on: “The Team Mgr/1B-Chance, C- Kling and Archer, SS- Tinker, 2B- Evers, 3B- Stienfelt, LF- Sheckard, RF-Shulte, CF-Hofman. Pitchers- Brown, Overall, Ruelback, Pfiester, Cole, Foxen, McIntyer, Richie, Weaver, Zimmerman, Kane. Stamped in orange “TJ Lynch 1910”. Additionally it is one of the first cork-centered balls to be used by Major League Baseball, used in play for the first time ever during this series. Toned from age with minor chips and scuffs to the surface. Overall an exquisite ink specimen and a brilliant addition to any game used ball collection.
