Considered the defining relic to the illustrious career of one of the all time greatest second basemen, Nellie Fox, this game worn glove is a fine example, superior to most in that it shows the perfect amount of use, well broken-in. Wilson A 2900 is a “Nelson Fox Personal Model”, as burned onto the inside of the pinky. Darkened palm from repeated leather pounding as he formed the second part to one of the best double-play teams in history. The Wilson label on the back of the hand strap is almost completely faded. Patent numbers for both Canada and the U.S. are branded onto the outside of the pinky. This early glove worn by Fox is characteristically diminutive in size, and exhibits outstanding wear typical of infielder’s gloves from this era. Baseball equipment for the pros was not always as plentiful as it is now, and uniforms and gloves usually were used to their fullest extent. Leather has slightly hardened from age and there is some slight cracking to the inner palm. Comes with an LOA from the Fox family.
