Baltimore Orioles home jersey worn by pitcher Jim Hardin during the early part of the 1971 season. This jersey has a unique provenance in that it was worn by Jim Hardin for the first two months of the 1971 season until he was traded to the New York Yankees on May 28th. Upon his trade, Frank Cashen, who was the executive vice president of the club at the time (he became general manager as well the next year), had Hardin's name removed from the reverse and replaced with the name "Cashen," so he could give to his son Brian to wear. As such, it is accompanied by a signed letter from Brian Cashen attesting to its provenance.

The white flannel jersey is lettered "Orioles" across the front and features the number "44" on the left breast and reverse. The name "Cashen" is lettered on the reverse, directly above the number. All numerals and front letters are applied in orange twill on black felt. All reverse letters are applied in black felt. Located on the left front tail are a "Wilson 42" label and a s square strip tag bearing the year and set number ("1971 Set 1) chain-stitched in black. Aside from the name change (the stitch outline of the name "Hardin" is clearly visible), the jersey is original as issued and displays light wear, including a few tiny, light stains on the right sleeve.
