Brooklyn Dodgers road jersey dating from the club's historic 1955 World Championship season. The gray flannel jersey is lettered "Dodgers" across the front and features the number "21" on the reverse. All letters and numerals are applied in blue felt. Both a "Rawlings Hall of Fame Flannel" label and an adjacent "42" size tag appear in the collar. Located on the interior left front tail are a wash tag and a flag tag reading "Set 1 1955." The jersey is original as issued and displays moderate wear, including light staining on the manufacturer's label and small tears to the team name on the front. No player wore number "21" for the Dodgers in 1955, so this jersey was most likely an "extra" kept on hand in the clubhouse in case it was needed for an emergency call up. It's also possible that it was used in spring training by a player who did not make the club that season. Regardless, it remains an outstanding team-issued jersey dating from the club's only World Championship season while in Brooklyn.
