A National Newark & Essex Banking Co. check signed by Moe Berg. Measuring 6.25x2.75," this check, dated January 7, 1942, was signed by Berg in black ink. It has been encapsulated and authenticated by PSA. Berg played for 15 seasons in the Major Leagues (1923, 1926-39) and later served as a spy for the Office of Strategic Services during World War II. Berg embarked on spy missions overseas, he was occasionally employed by the CIA. Berg was awarded the Medal of Freedom by President Herbert Hoover in 1946. He refused to receive the medal, however. After his death, Berg's sister Ethel accepted the medal and donated it to the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
