Susan B. Anthony, born in 1820, was a famous social reformer and women's rights advocate who was in the forefront of the women's suffrage movement in the United States. Presented is a Susan B. Anthony dated signature with an equal rights inscription. Anthony came from an Adams, Massachusetts, Quaker family that was involved in the anti-slavery movement. Anthony and her close friend, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, co-founded both the New York Women's State Temperance Society and the Women's Loyal National League, an organization that sought to obtain the end of slavery in the country. Anthony was also heavily involved in the National American Woman Suffrage Association and many other organizations seeking increased rights for women and African Americans. In a famous legal case, Anthony was arrested, because she was a woman, when she voted in a Rochester, New York, election. Anthony did much to advance the cause of women's rights, and her efforts led to the Nineteenth Amendment, giving women voting rights. She became the first U.S. woman honored with a coin when the Susan B. Anthony dollar was issued in 1979. Susan B. Anthony passed away in 1906.

The Susan B. Anthony cut signature and inscription is on a rectangular piece of paper or card stock measuring approx.2.5x3.5". Anthony used black fountain ink to sign her name. She wrote, "Equal rights for all - is the demand of Susan B. Anthony/Rochester N.Y., Feb 1,1898." The cut signature and inscription show some slight toning, but the offering is in overall EXCELLENT condition. The item has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA certified "AUTHENTIC."
